A winner of the USA and World competitions in hurdle events, Lolo Jones has reached her present position following many years of hard work and an sheer patience. Jones is a child born into a family of no mothers with five children who lived in the midst of poverty and struggle in her early years, went through an incredibly difficult childhood. Jones was also part of the team who finished second in the 100 meter relay. Jones has won indoor hurdles at NCAA Championships in both 2003 and 2004. Jones was the winner of each of races, including the Torino Memorial and the Heusden Track races in this same year.

Born and raised within Cape Town South Africa Brandt moved with her family to Auckland New Zealand in her late teens.
